Ski Pitch Privacy Policy

Ski Pitch is an app by Thumbli LLC that shows how steep ski runs are at resorts in the United States and Canada. It has no sign-in or user accounts. All resort and run data is built into the app, and the app works without an internet connection.

1. What the app collects

The app collects nothing in normal use. It does not ask for your name, email, location, contacts or any account details.

The only information that leaves your phone is what you choose to send through the in-app forms:

• Contact us (in Settings): your message, and your email address if you choose to give it so we can reply.
• Report a problem (on a run's page): your message, the topic you pick, your email address if you choose to give it, and details of the run you're reporting, such as its name, resort, rating and the steepness figures shown.

With either form, the app also sends the app version, the data version, your phone model and its iOS version, so we can reproduce problems.

Launch waitlist (website). If you join the Ski Pitch waitlist on thumbli.com, we use your email address only to tell you when the app is available, and send one message. You can ask us to remove it at any time.

2. How we use what you send

We use form messages only to reply to you and to fix problems with the app and its data. We don't use them for marketing, and we don't add your email address to any mailing list.

Messages are passed from the app to a small relay service hosted by Expo (EAS Hosting), which emails them to us through Resend, our email provider. Neither service uses the content for its own purposes. Like any web service, they may briefly log technical details of the request, such as an IP address, for security and reliability. The relay itself keeps no copy of your message.

We keep messages in our email inbox for as long as we need them to answer you and track fixes. You can ask us to delete them at any time (see section 9).

3. Where your saved runs and settings are stored

Your starred runs and resorts, and your settings (units and angle format), are stored only on your phone. They are not sent to us or to the cloud, and they are removed when you delete the app.

4. What we do NOT do

• No accounts or sign-in
• No advertising
• No analytics or tracking tools, and no tracking across other apps or websites
• No selling or sharing of personal information
• No access to your location, camera, photos, contacts or microphone

5. Permissions

Ski Pitch doesn't request any device permissions.

6. Children

Ski Pitch is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the app, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

Form messages are sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Data stored on your phone is protected by your device's own security features.

8. Data sources

Run, lift and resort information comes from OpenStreetMap contributors, via OpenSkiMap, under the Open Database License. Elevation data comes from the USGS 3D Elevation Program, Natural Resources Canada and LidarBC. This data is about places, not about you, and is built into the app.

9. Your choices

• You never have to use the forms. The app works fully without them.
• An email address in the forms is optional.
• To have your messages deleted, or to ask what we hold about you, email us at the address below.
• Deleting the app removes your saved runs and settings.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be shown by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
