Scan & Play Privacy Policy

Scan & Play is a sheet-music scanning and practice app published by Thumbli LLC. This policy explains what information the app handles and what happens to it. The short version: we do not collect, store, or sell personal data, and the app has no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising.

Microphone

Practice mode listens to your instrument through the microphone to detect pitch in real time. All audio processing happens entirely on your device. Audio is never recorded, never stored, and never transmitted anywhere. When you stop practicing (or leave the practice screen), the microphone is released.

Sheet-music photos and PDFs

When you scan sheet music (camera photo, photo-library image, or PDF), the file is uploaded over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our conversion server, which runs optical music recognition to turn the image into a digital score. The uploaded file and all conversion by-products are deleted from the server immediately after the conversion completes — successful or not. We keep no library of uploaded images and no database of users or content.

The conversion server is hosted on Google Cloud Platform (Google LLC) in the United States. As with virtually all web services, the hosting platform records standard, short-lived technical request logs (such as IP address and request time) used for operating the service.

Files you import as MusicXML are processed entirely on your device and are not uploaded.

Your music library

Scores you save — scanned, imported, or edited — are stored locally on your device only. We have no copy of your library and no way to access it. Deleting the app deletes the library.

What we do NOT do

• No user accounts or sign-in
• No analytics or usage tracking
• No advertising or third-party ad SDKs
• No sale or sharing of any data
• No data collection linked to your identity

Children

Scan & Play does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is rated 4+.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change (for example, if optional accounts or sync are added), this policy will be updated before those features ship, with the effective date above revised.
